Say It Right

A ‘Restroom’ is totally different from a ‘Restaurant’.

Don’t ask me ‘Car Park’. Say ‘How or Where is the car park?’.

Don’t say ‘How do I walk?’, plainly because I am not an Physiotherapist. You would be better off asking me ‘How do I fuck?’ because that would give me an opportunity to try you first hand.

Don’t say ‘Its very far’, because everybody has a different sense of scale. A man travelling in a wheelchair himself would say a hundred metres is ‘far’. Another man being pushed in a wheelchair would say one kilometer is not far. So when I say its a ten-fucking-minute walk, its a ten-fucking-minute walk. Its a FACT. I am not saying its FAR. You percieve it as far. I am saying its a ten-fucking-minute walk. I didn’t say its FAR. How YOU guage it as FAR, is entirely up to you.

When I say ‘its closed for renovation’, it means its closed for renovation. It also means its NOT OPEN. Why? Because of the word CLOSED??

When you leave your things at my desk, don’t ask me later ‘is it OK?’. Why? Because if you cared, you would have asked me prior to leaving it there.

Sometimes silence saves you your intelligence. So please, keep quiet and think before you shit through your mouth.

Misconceptions & Perceptions

[An old draft item that I created months ago]……

Browsing through the array of Levi’s jeans on the racks, I found this beautifully designed tag, describing the jeans wash and design in general. In smaller fonts, it read “Wash seperately”. That made me think…..

Did they mean to wash the jeans seperately from other garments? Or did they mean to for us to remove the tag and wash them seperately? :)

Yes yes, I am lame. I know. But only another lamer can understand another lamer. So dont laugh at me! Haha!

Its Christmas.  So laughing at another person is strictly forbidden.

“Now, does this mean that on non-Christmas days, we can laugh at one another?”

When SHe asks a question, and thereafter ends it with a resounding “Uh, yah lor.” Does it mean that she approves of what you say? Or does it mean that she simply does not even understand or have any belief in what she says and that SHe knows that she is getting no-where in her decision making.

Sad ain’t it?

Riots, United Kingdom and Singapore

Most of us would be aware of the situation unfolding in London, UK where the mobs have taken to the streets, disrupting lives. I refer to articles on Channelnewsasia (CNA) here for a brief history.

The violence is unbecoming of a ‘matured’ city, known for its businessmen and high life the likes of David Beckham and the recent Wedding of Prince and Princess. Cars are burnt to ashes, buildings are destroyed, men are killed. Innocent men may I add.

Why the violence you ask. This whole event stems from the killing of a Mark Duggan, a 29-year old man living in Broadwater Farm.

Where does the anger stem from? All these burning, slashing, smashing of windows, toppling of buildings through fires and gang related activities. I’d say its a combination of racial as well as spitefulness against the Government. The anger has got to people’s head, eating at them like a maggot in your heart, eating its way out. Its finally at your skin, and it pounces at you with such force, such anger.

Will this happen in Singapore? I say : ”Why the hell not?”

It happened back in the 1960′s when racial riots broke out in Singapore. Why not now? Just because we are a civilised and ‘modern’ city? Who’s to say that a modern city will not have pent up anger like London had? Are they not a ‘modern’ city too? Or am I being ignorant about its status?

We have broadband, just like the UK has. Twitter? Facebook? ‘Social Media’? Its worldwide! They mention about how they should control the use of social media to isolate such occurances of vice. The Internet is the medium. Its the transport. Its not the cause. Let us not get confused here.

The Government of Singapore asks for us to be receptive of our foreigners who live and work in Singapore. Well, I’d guess we do not have much of a choice since we are a ‘modern’ city that has about 1.2 million foreigners on our soil. With the current population rated at about 5 million, thats a substantial amount of foreign blood don’t you think?

Should I start learning Tagalog (the mother-tongue of Philippines) or Bahasa (Indonesia) so as to ‘gel’ with my fellow Citizens? Would that be ‘respectful’ enough? Maybe I should start a family so that we can grow into a State of Asia, where we are the Metropolis of Asia.

Singapore can be the Noak’s Ark of the world in time to come. Where we host a region of races and religion, all in a Small Red Dot. That’s what we are eh? Which identity may I ask, do we portray? A culturally rich and accepting state who has at least 10-12 different races, or one that is tethering along the lines of angst?

I can say we are not far off from what has happened in the UK. Or should I say its because of social media?
